The Ten Commandments

Easter’s origins are in the Passover that occurred as part of the Plagues sent by God to the Egyptians. A great way to delve deep into the history of Easter and learn more about Jewish history is to start with the life of Moses. The Ten Commandments follows Moses from his birth to the parting of the Red Sea, to receiving the tablets with the Ten Commandments.

House of David

David from the movie House of David (2025)

Jesus’ ancestors include King David, and his life was amazing. A shepherd boy, warrior, psalmist, and king, David was truly a vessel for God’s Will. This series is new, released in 2025, and may not be the most accurate depiction of this amazing man’s life, but is still an interesting watch for the family.

Prince of Egypt

This classic, animated film depicts the life of Moses. Once again, a great way to learn about Passover, and therefore the beginning events that foreshadow Christ’s Passion. This beautiful movie features amazing scenes from Moses’ life as well as a score and music by Hans Zimmer.

VeggieTales: An Easter Carol

In classic VeggieTales fashion, this delightful special adapts Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to tell the story of a grumpy Mr. Nezzar who is taught the true meaning of Easter and the error of Mr. Nezzar’s ways.

We hope you have a chance to spend time as a family enjoying these bits of light in the world of Hollywood and prepare to celebrate Easter!
