Gaslit Nation: When Journalism Becomes Psychological Abuse
AmericanMom Team |
Jake Tapper’s recent “revelations” in his new book, Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, are just the latest sins of our so-called press. The book claims to expose how the Biden administration and left-leaning media knowingly covered up Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. But this isn’t just a late confession – it’s a damning indictment of the very institutions that claim to defend democracy. Jake Tapper failed in his commitment to the American people, failed in his journalistic duties, and failed to be honest after the fact.
Are we dealing with adult professionals or petulant, dishonest children?
Conspiratorial or Anti-Democratic
When journalists stop holding power accountable and start protecting it, democracy isn’t just under attack—it’s already dead.
Americans—especially on the right, and even those left of center—raised legitimate concerns about Biden’s mental fitness. They were met with mockery, censorship, and gaslighting—not an honest debate or mature conversation in sight.
This wasn’t a conspiracy theory; Joe Biden’s cognitive decline was not a right-wing fantasy but an observable reality. Millions of Americans saw the signs with their own eyes and spoke out. However, those raising the alarm were dismissed as cruel, conspiratorial, or “anti-democratic.” But what’s truly anti-democratic was the coordinated effort to manipulate public perception, suppress legitimate concerns, and deceive voters.
Even Jake Tapper, in an interview with Lara Trump, deflected from the issue by feigning offense—claiming that criticism of Biden’s lack of articulateness was an attack on his lifelong stutter. But let’s be honest: did anyone see Joe Biden stuttering during his time as Obama’s vice president? Search YouTube. You won’t find what Tapper wanted you to believe.
Gaslighting
By refusing to acknowledge what millions could plainly see, the Biden administration and its allies in legacy media deepened national distrust. They didn’t just dismiss concerns—they branded citizens uncomfortable with their president’s clearly declining health as extremists.
This kind of gaslighting is dishonest and destabilizing and breeds alienation, resentment, and total disillusionment with the democratic process. The very opposite of democracy. When one side of the country sees obvious truth, and the other insists it’s fiction, the result isn’t unity—it’s chaos.
This isn’t just corruption. It’s confirmation for Americans that their growing distrust of government and media wasn’t paranoia—it was discernment. And for those who’ve spent the last few years asking questions about COVID, vaccine schedules, climate change, and the rewriting of history this is only further validation.
For those of us who saw the patterns in the lies, it was painful to watch people like Jill Biden smile and wave and pretend all was totally fine—and to do that to her own husband.
In what may be one of the most shameful episodes in modern political history, the First Lady appears to have chosen power over both her husband’s dignity and the health of the nation. Rather than intervening out of love or concern, she allowed a man in obvious decline to remain at the helm of the free world—or at least the illusion of it. Who knows who was really running the country? She exploited his image to maintain proximity to influence.
This wasn’t loyalty. It was opportunism masked as devotion.
But this isn’t about Joe Biden. It’s about the erosion of honesty, the weaponization of the media, and the prioritization of political narratives over national health and safety.
Democracy doesn’t survive without trust. And trust cannot survive when lies are institutionalized, dissent is ridiculed, and truth is hidden in plain sight.
Every American, left or right, should be outraged—not just at the cover-up, but at what it reveals: a ruling class willing to lie, manipulate, and sacrifice both individuals and institutions in order to hold onto power.
Nothing New Under the Sun
This isn’t the first time the American populace has been lied to and left unrepresented—and surely, it won’t be the last unless the people wake up, speak up, and start demanding truth outside the echo chamber of their party. You can go back decades and see the same patterns: the same stories, the same warnings, the same voices crying out about poisoned food, contaminated water, endless wars, crushing taxes, and government waste.
The difference now? We know more. We see more. And we’re done playing along. Aren’t we???
This moment isn’t just a reckoning—it’s a call. A call to remember that we are not subjects of the state. We are its masters. And the truth, no matter how long it’s been buried, still belongs to us.
We have been bruised, battered, and betrayed—by our government and the press. Call it what you want, but at some point, we need to call it what it is: psychological abuse. The gaslighting. The deception. The betrayal. The isolation. The emotional toll of it all mirrors the trauma you’d find in a marriage riddled with infidelity and narcissism—where the lies aren’t just painful, they’re disorienting.
You begin to question your memory, your instincts, your sanity. That’s not civic disagreement. That’s manipulation.
And we’ve had enough.
It’s time to stop accepting abuse dressed up as leadership. Time to stop mistaking lies for civility. Time to remember that truth isn’t just a right—it’s a responsibility. And when the institutions built to serve us become mechanisms of control, it’s not just our right to speak up, it’s our duty.
