Finding Peace in Today’s Turmoil: A Woman’s Survival Guide

There are moments in life when the world seems to spin faster than we can keep up. Between the demands of motherhood, work, relationships, wars, rumors of wars, hurricanes, natural disasters, politics, and the everyday pressures of modern motherhood, it’s no wonder we feel crushed, pressured, and rushed. Anxiety is at an all-time high! It’s easy to feel like we’re caught in the eye of a storm. But even in the midst of chaos, there is hope. As moms, we often put on a brave face, but deep down, we crave peace…

Let’s turn to the ultimate source of peace: Jesus. John 3:16 reminds us of His love: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Revelation and the Promise of His Return
The book of Revelation may seem intimidating, but it’s full of promises of victory and peace. God has already laid out the future, and it’s one of eternal hope. As moms, we may not be able to control every detail of our day-to-day life, but we can rest knowing that Jesus is coming back to set everything right. Revelation 21:4 assures us, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” This promise helps us release the burdens that weigh us down.

Today’s Struggles, Tomorrow’s Promises
It’s so easy to get bogged down by today’s struggles—whether we’re worrying about our kids, the state of the world, or just keeping up with daily demands. But Jesus invites us to bring our worries to Him. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” His rest is real, and it gives us the strength to keep going.

Philippians 4:6-7 also reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” It’s a powerful reminder that peace comes from trusting in God.

A Personal Testimony: Trusting God in Pregnancy
During my pregnancy, we had a scare. The doctors told me my daughter was measuring small for her gestational age, and I had just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. That mix of fear and helplessness gripped me. But I prayed, fervently. I prayed for her health, for my health, and I listened for the Holy Spirit to guide me through every decision. 1 Peter 5:7 encourages us to “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” That’s exactly what I did.

In the end, my daughter was born healthy, and through it all, I felt God’s presence, His peace, carrying us through. It wasn’t easy, but His faithfulness showed up again and again.

Finding Community: Stepping Out in Faith
Look, I get it. Putting yourself out there is uncomfortable. This season, I decided to join a BSF International Bible study on Revelation. Intimidating? Absolutely. But also so rewarding. Bonus: the study is donation-based, and they even offered childcare—major win-win! Hebrews 10:25 encourages us to meet together, uplift each other, and not go through life alone. I’ve learned firsthand that finding a community where you’re encouraged in your faith can make all the difference.

Another Testimony: Trusting God in the Hardest Moments
I’ll never forget when my husband lost his job while I was 8 months pregnant. We were at the hospital for my OB-GYN appointment, and while I was upstairs, he was called to the HR office downstairs to get the news. I was already planning to take time off, and the timing felt like a punch to the gut. There were moments when I doubted. I leaned hard on my faith, my church, and everything I had to keep going. During that time, the enemy tempted me with all kinds of distractions to soothe the pain. But time a…

Romans 8:28 gave me the strength I needed: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” God was working, even when we couldn’t see it.

Marriage is hard work, and so is staying strong in faith when life throws curve-balls. My husband was out of work for over a year—even through my postpartum period—but we prayed, we tithed, and we trusted. Today, he’s in a job that’s even better than we could’ve imagined. Proverbs 3:5-6 kept me grounded during that season: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Hope for the Future
Sometimes we can’t help but worry about the future. What kind of world will our kids grow up in? But God reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” We can trust that God has a plan for our families, and it’s filled with hope.

Practical Tips for Finding Peace as a Mom
Here are some things that help me stay grounded and find peace, even on the hardest days:

1. Start Your Day with Prayer – Before the craziness of the day hits, I read the verse of the day on the Bible app. I *try* to do this before checking emails or social media. Just pausing and thanking God for the day helps me start with a peaceful mind. Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

2. Give Yourself Grace – Some days we crush it; other days, not so much. And that’s okay! We’re human. Stop comparing yourself to others and trust that God sees your heart. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

3. Use Daily Moments for Worship – While I’m doing laundry, cooking, or even working, I love to play praise music. Lately, I’ve gotten into Christian rap—seriously, it’s fun! Worship doesn’t have to happen only in church. Let it be part of your everyday rhythm.

4. Speak Life Over Your Family – Every day, I make it a point to speak God’s promises over my children and our home. Declaring peace, joy, and protection in Jesus’ name is a powerful act. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21).

5. Seek Community – You don’t have to go through this alone. Whether it’s a Bible study group, mom friends, or church, find a community that will lift you up. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

6. Rest in His Presence – Whether it’s through worship, reading the Word, or simply sitting quietly, take time to rest in God’s presence. “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

Conclusion: Finding Peace in the Storm
Life can be chaotic, and as moms, we carry so much on our shoulders. The constant demands of motherhood, the uncertainties of the world, and the pressures we face daily can feel overwhelming. But the beauty of our faith is that we don’t have to face it alone. Jesus promises us peace—a peace that transcends all understanding. By turning to Him, finding moments of worship in our busy days, and connecting with a supportive community, we can anchor ourselves in His love and guidance.

Remember, it’s okay to feel overwhelmed at times, but it’s also okay to give yourself grace. You’re doing the best you can, and God sees your heart. Lean into His Word, embrace the moments of stillness, and trust that He has a plan for you and your family—one filled with hope, provision, and peace.

No matter what storm you’re in, Jesus is there, holding you steady. He is our refuge, our source of strength, and our ever-present help in trouble. Let’s continue to seek Him, trust Him, and find peace in His promises.
