3 Boy Scout Alternatives for Conservative Boys

Conservative families might seek alternatives to the Boy Scouts for various reasons. Whether it’s concerns about the organization’s shift in values, its departure from traditional principles, or conflicts with personal beliefs, some conservative families may feel that the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has experienced an irreversible deviation away from its founding principles and traditional values. The Boy Scouts isn’t alone in this when it comes to traditional, long-standing organizations originally designed to serve America’s youth. Regarding matters such as religious beliefs, moral teachings, and adherence to the Scout Oath and Law, the Boy Scouts joins the Girl Scouts, the NCAA and others in virtue signally and sacrificing their good cause on the altar of appeasing the privileged few who feel they are owed something.

The result: Controversies surrounding BSA’s policies on issues like gender identity and sexual orientation lead conservative families to seek alternative organizations that align more closely with their values and beliefs. Alternative organizations often offer programs that emphasize traditional values, outdoor skills, leadership development, and moral integrity, providing conservative boys with environments where they can grow and thrive in accordance with their beliefs and principles.

The Importance of Community

Phrased in another way: why does this matter? Answered simply: because our young men are the fathers, friends, husbands, and leaders of American principles and culture. It matters because, as conservatives especially, men need to break free of the go-along-to-get-along mindset that has fostered a moral-free culture. Our future leaders need to be set free by the Truth. It matters because young men are under fire from all sides these days—they are told by media that masculinity is toxic and pressured into denying every God-created part of themselves by a culture that no longer values masculinity and the value of fathers in the home.

Boys need a space where they can have camaraderie, friendship, and support during their most important years without political agendas pushing and pulling them. Boys need to be boys, they need solid foundations, and they need activities and role models who help them become the outstanding men and leaders they are meant to be.
